The next day I relax next to the morning fire. You can see our new tent in the background. We are already packing things up to move on. Not knowing that the route is actually more than four miles longer than the book suggested, our thought is to hike past the lake we were originally going to camp at and on to the second campsite I designated in my itinerary.

Here is another angle of our camp. The two sacks to the right held our food high in the trees overnight. You can also see the tear through my pants on my left knee.

On route, Dave snaps a picture of the many wildflowers. It was surprising to see so many flowers this late in the season. You can see the trail at the left of this photo.
