Our first little hike out of the car. We're just walking up the trail to those hills in the background. This is the trip where my doctor tried to explain that I was "dehydrated." Do you have a doctor with the typical God complex? A doctor who's science background could fit in a leaflet stored in a secret compartment in my shoe? Ya, me too. Anyway, the temps are cool because it is about to rain, and I'm carrying a half a gallon of water in my day pack, all to walk to those hills. Ya, I was dehydrated, my ass.

We've reached the hills and have entered a small valley that dead ends a bit further up. The Red Rock Mountains certainly earn their name.

We continued along the flat trail that offered about as much challenge as falling out of bed.
