Tahoe Rim Trail off Luther Pass

Well there are days when your simple day hike in the mountains gets a visit from mother nature. Are you prepared?

But this hike wasn't one of them! No - this picture is actually from a snowshoeing hike we took in March. All jokes aside, the hike up the rim trail was much easier than we expected and I'd recommend it to "budding" athletes (aka couch potatoes).

Those frightened by the first photo can rest assured that the photo above more accurately represents the weather conditions and slacker... I mean easy trail. Andra stopped along the trail for me. Although the trail does climb upward, even the steepest areas are not particularly steep.

There were many massive granite chunks along the trail that added character to the trip. I had Andra and Dave stop here for some photos. The forecast high was 61 degrees, but I think it peaked at around 57 in Tahoe (a bit colder up here). Temperatures were ideal for hiking.
