At the edge of the sub-dome looking down. It may appear to be nearly straight down, but this is actually the trail! The trail switchback's down this slope. It is always right around in this area, that I invariably ask myself what possesses me to climb up here repeatedly. I never get a very good answer and generally come to the conclusion that I'm an idiot.
Andra and I stopped where the steps widen briefly to snap a few photos. I refused to let her take my picture until she was seated in order to avoid any possibility of vertigo. While walking down these steps, should you trip and fall forward (down the steps), your broken body would eventually come to rest some several hundred feet below.
