Strange islands and dikes appear within Yellowstone Lake.  Some of them have trees growing on them.

We decide to take a hike to Lone Star Geyser on this particular afternoon.  It is about a 2.5 mile hike one way and this geyser only goes off about every 3+ hours.  After hiking for nearly an hour we arrived to see the cone quietly resting.  Knowing we may have to wait as much as three hours we were prepared to stick around a while.  I mean what are the odds the geyser would just happen to go off just as we arrive?  Certainly not probable, considering our outrageous luck at the Lower Geyser Basin earlier in the week (Old Faithful Area).

You guessed it.  Within minutes of arriving, Lone Star showed us its stuff.
