This is looking the opposite direction. We have to hike down this very long road to reach Lee Vining. Down near the intersection with 395 is another barricade to prevent motorists from coming up.
Looking back the way we came, you can see the road at the base of the mountain. The prior pictures were taken from that section facing down here.
We have just too many miles on our legs in such a short period of time. We all relish the opportunity to rest our pack weight on the guard rail for a few moments.
