Here I am at camp number two. Considering the heavy food and gear laden packs, we decided to use our floater day earlier rather than later. This would allow us to eat more food and lighten our packs before reaching the second high pass. Instead of hiking to Cold Canyon (our original camp 2 spot), we stopped just as we started to turn that direction. I had originally invited my friend Jay to join us on this trip, but after two intense days with very heavy loads, I'm positive, he'd have croaked out here. (Alice was right *cough*) This trip was not for the casual hiker.

I thought my winter gear was heavy, but carrying all these signs really didn't help! You may also be wondering why 10 days of food for a 9 day trip. Experience. You always take extra food as things can, and do go wrong.

We've now left camp #2 and are headed up and into Cold Canyon. We need to make about a 600 ft climb and then Cold Canyon will take us over to the Glen Aulin area. Andra makes her way through some downed trees as we climb our way up.

Nearing the top, I take a look back at the canyon we just left. Some years ago, we continued down that canyon and eventually turned north. This time around we are headed south.
