We've reached the heavily worn trail of Cold Canyon. With a pack station at Virginia Lakes, some of these trails take quite a beating from the equine traffic. Since we were originally planning to camp in Cold Canyon, I immediately started looking to see if there was running water.

As it turned out, it was really fortunate that we had decided to stop early and not attempt to continue into Cold Canyon yesterday. There was no running water anywhere. That would have meant no hot dinner or breakfast. However, since we were now just passing through to Glen Aulin, we could enjoy the beautiful meadows without water concerns.

What a spectacular view. If it wasn't so damn high, and called "Cold Canyon," I'd like to build a home here.
